A RETROSPECTIVE STUDY ON EXTRACTION OF TEETH IN PATIENTS UNDER 30 YEARS AGE

Abstract

Tooth extraction is considered as the last treatment option in dentistry. A decrease in teeth can cause many problems. Extraction of teeth is performed for several reasons including caries, periodontal disease, orthodontic reasons, impaction, failed dental treatments, etc.The aim of this study is to investigate the prevalence of extraction of teeth in patients under 30 year of age and it’s correlation with age and gender. The data of patients under 30 years who visited saveetha dental college for tooth extraction between June 2019- April 2020 were analysed. Its population consisted of 5,752 patients. Data was retrieved from DIAS. The correlation and frequency distribution was calculated using SPSS software. Male(3,125 patients) underwent more extraction than female patients(2,055 patients). Mean age was 19 years. Within the limits of this study age and prevalence of extraction of teeth under 30 years
is negatively correlated.
