DETERMINANTS OF POST-DELIVERY COMPLICATIONS AMONG WORKING AND NON-WORKING WOMEN IN CUDDALORE DISTRICT OF TAMIL NADU
Abstract
The determinants of post-delivery complications among working and non-working women in Cuddalore district of Tamil Nadu has been analysed using data from a reproductive health survey conducted in Cuddalore district of Tamil Nadu during 2018-2019 period of time. This paper specifically examines the extent as well as the determinants of post-delivery complications among working and non-working women in Cuddalore district of Tamil Nadu. A total of six hundred currently married women, equally divided between working and non-working categories, in the age group 15- 44 with at least one live birth during the last three years prior to survey constitutes the sample of survey. Except for excessive bleeding, the other types of post-delivery complications reported such as pus formation, pain in lower abdomen, urinary problems, fits or convulsions, foul smelling discharge and breast swelling were more prevalent among working women when compared to non-working women in the sample. Also, for both working and non-working categories, significant variations were seen while analysing the post-delivery complications with respect to different demographic, social, economic and health characteristics of women.
