A COMPARATIVE STUDY ON WOMEN’S REBEL AGAINST ENORMITY IN THE WORKS OF KIRAN DESAI, MAHASWETA DEVI AND TONI MORRISON

Abstract

Gender inequality has been one of the biggest issues in the world which has been experienced
by women belonging to every class and race. The view of the society has remained
indifferent towards women because they are considered as vassal to men. This inequality
has affected women externally as well as internally due to which they have to become the
victim of exploitation and suppression inside the household as well as in the society. The
present paper aims to explore the strength and power of women shown in coping up with
the aforementioned limitations. It has been shown in this paper how women break down the
stereotypes deep rooted in the patriarchal structure of the society, and how they take step
ahead to shatter all the barriers in order to prove wrong the predetermined psyche of male
dominated society.
