Abstract

The research is concerned with tracing the decorative formations of the written formulas of the phrase (Basmalah) in the figurative artworks and its aesthetic character in the formation of the work as well as the constructive. The research consisted of four chapters, the first chapter contained the research problem that raises the following question (What is the aesthetics of the ornamental composition of Basmalah in contemporary Arab painting) and the importance of the need for it, which deals with identifying these aesthetics and their spatial limits (Iraq - Sudan - Egypt), and temporal (1975-2000), hence the most important search terms.The second chapter contains the theoretical framework for the research consisting of the first topic (Beauty and Aesthetics in Islamic Thought), the second topic (the aesthetic features of Basmalah and the foundations and elements of the decorative composition) and the third topic (The shape structure of written decoration in contemporary Arab painting) As well as the most important indicators of the theoretical framework. The third chapter contains the research community and its adult sample, technical models, research methodology and tool, and sample analysis.The fourth chapter included results and conclusions, and among the most important resultsis that the sample models were characterized by the tendency of abstraction as total aesthetic formulations, but at the level of diagnosis the letters and the nature of their formulation and alignment were formed according to a diagnostic prudent that the recipient could understand in an acceptable manner after examination and scrutiny by formulating the phrases, especially the basmalah as a precursor
to the intended aesthetic text.The decorative composition of the basmalah was based on the elements of aesthetic discourse through formal and color treatments that came with aesthetic images that support the formation of the artwork and its aesthetic character.The aesthetic context in the decorative formations of the Basmalah constituted a mobilization of the creative energies of the artists, according to their investment of the nutrients of the intellectual system of Islamic civilization with its philosophy and cultural incubator.
