MACHINING PARAMETERS OPTIMIZATION BY GREY RELATIONAL ANALYSIS OF ALLOY STEEL AISI 4140
Abstract
This paper presents an approach to find out optimized parameters of the cutting process on the
hard turning of AISI 4140 alloy steel with Grey Relational Analysis (GRA). The optimization of
material removal rate (MRR), force of cutting, and surface roughness was done using different
cutting process parameters, like the speed of cutting, cutting depth (DOC), and feed rate. The
experiment was designed using the L9 arrangement of the Taguchi method with 3 levels and also
3 factors. The optimum values of cutting process parameters were recommended by the grey
relational grade (GRG) values.
