INSERTION OF ENGLISH WORDS IN ARABIC CONVERSATION AMONG SUDANESE UNIVERSITIES STUDENTS: REASONS AND ATTITUDES
Abstract
This paper intends to examine Insertion of English Words in Arabic Conversation among Sudanese university students. Furthermore, it seeks to explore the reasons and attitudes towards this phenomenon. To accomplish the purposes of the study, the researcher led a case study using a questionnaire which is distributed to the students of Sudan University for Science and Technology. The findings of the study show that the majority of the students have positive attitudes towards the others’ insertion of English words in Arabic conversation but they feel embarrassed and shy to do it themselves, beside that they have instrumental motivation towards this phenomenon; and that the female students tend to insert English words more than male students.
