THE MEANING OF LOCAL CULTURE ELEMENTS AND URBAN ELEMENTS AS FORMING THE IDENTITY OF THE KLUNGKUNG URBAN AREA,BALI, INDONESIA

Abstract

The development of cities in Indonesia has a different character and identity. Local cultural elements as forming the identity of urban areas can be seen based on the order and function of city life in a more integrated manner which is an accumulation of local cultural, socio-cultural values, as well as the physical elements of the urban environment as the container. urban areas can be known if the identity of the city is well known and understood in terms of the culture, customs and socio of the local community. The role of local cultural elements and urban elements in an urban area is very important as forming elements of identity. In Bali, the urban area has begun to lose its sense of identity, which has a strong character in shaping an urban area and in the development of the urban area itself. This research began at the level of understanding and form of community implementation, the low identity of urban regional governments and the lack of public awareness of local cultural elements as holders of an important role as a form of urban identity. Local cultural elements and urban elements will affect all aspects of the identity of urban areas. the most basic purpose of this research is to determine the extent to which the meaning of local cultural elements and urban elements contribute to the identity of the Klungkung Bali urban area. Specifically, national and international in general.In determining operational policies, can formulate policies regarding the meaning of the identity of urban areas in accordance with local wisdom and urban elements that include urban areas. Looking ahead, the results of this study are expected to be input in determining the shape and pattern of identity of urban areas.
