Abstract

The international monetary system has entered a period of transformation, characterized by
the decline in the US dollar's dominance and an obvious increase in the interest of the world
community in monetary gold as a reliable reserve asset. However, further reflection is needed
on the role of gold in the transformation process and the optimal size of the gold reserves of
central banks, and this is the aim of the study, the first results of which are presented in the
article.
