THE IMPACT OF EMPLOYING THE SCHWARTZ MODELON THE ACHIEVEMENT AND ANALYTICAL THINKING OF THE SECOND-GRADE STUDENTS IN SOCIAL STUDIES
Abstract
The research aimed at examining the impact of employing the Schwartz model on:
1. Second-grade students ’achievement in Social Studies.
2. The analytical thinking of second-grade students in Social Studies.
The research sample consists of (62) students who were distributed into two groups, each
group contained (32) students, the students of the two groups were equal in (age in months,
previous year social Studies attainment, previous year overall rate, Raven's IQ test, and pre-
analytic thinking test.)
120 levels of behavioral objectives (knowledge, understanding, application, analysis) were
extracted, plans prepared for the two groups, and a summative test consisting of 40 multiple
choice paragraph was prepared.
Besides, an analytical thinking test was prepared to consist of 30 paragraph, each para
includes two alternatives, one score is being given to the incorrect choice, two scores are
being given to the correct choice. The validity and reliability (apparent and constructive) of
the two tests were verified.
Statistically significant differences were indicated at statistically significant differences of
(0.05) between the mean scores of the experimental and control groups in the summative
tests and the analytical thinking test in favor of the experimental group that was studying
according to the Schwartz model.
