Abstract

The research deals with a type of grammatical inferences for a scholar of extensive knowledge, Ibn al-Wardi. He was skilled in jurisprudence, history, literature, and poetry writing. His book, ShrhAltuhfhAlwrdyh, relying on types of grammatical foundations, presented an explanation of his poetic system in grammar, including hadith samples. The research investigated this aspect in the author, which made him inclined to use hadith sample in his style and methodology. He employed such samples in formulating grammatical rules, discussing issues, and presenting grammatical opinions. Nevertheless, it did not mean that Ibn al-Wardi neglected to cite other samples like Qur’anic verses, poetry, and prose. The research opens with a foreword introducing Ibn al-Wardi and ShrhAltuhfhAlwrdyh. The present research falls into two sections: the first section deals with the author’s attitude of hadith samples as well as the way of sample presentation. The second one deals with the functions provided by hadith samples.
