Abstract

The aim of the present study is to identify the incidence of PMDs among patients with habits with other chief complaints.
We reviewed the patients records and analysed data of 86,000 patients between June 2019 to March 2020. Patients with habits and who had potentially malignant disorders were initially screened. Among these the patients who presented with other chief complaints were selected for the study. The data is tabulated using excel and analysed with the help of SPSS software. In this study 53% of the total study population showed incidence of leukoplakia (PMDs).
Incidence of PMDs in Male is higher than females because of the fact that 75% of the male patients have a habit of tobacco consumption in various forms. PMDs are more common in age groups between 41to 50 years.

This study reveals there is an association of panchewing , smoking and other habits with oral potentially malignant disorders. This study provides baseline data enabling the dental surgeons to plan their treatment and to avoid compromising the prognosis for later treatment and even encourages cessation of risk factors which lead to PMDs.
